Shoprite Accountant

Main purpose of the job

To assist the Divisional Financial Manager in ensuring the continuous accuracy of the financial statements of the Angola division

Job objectives

  • To accurately manage the general ledger of the division
  • To ensure a successful (efficient) year-end audit for the division
  • To accurately and timeously perform selected financial management functions
  • Angolan citizenship is compulsory
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English
  • Willingness to relocate is a prerequisite if not currently residing in Angola

Task information

To accurately manage the general ledger of the division

  • Monthly processing of journals in SAP
  • Monitoring financial statements (e.g. income, fixed assets, debtors, loans, etc) in local currency
  • Monitor implications of financial statements in (ZAR) Rand terms
  • Compile monthly management income statements
  • Compile monthly supporting schedules to income statements
  • Interpret monthly financial results
  • Correspondence with DFM's on all related issues (e.g. queries on SAP entries, pick-up of tax certificates, etc)
  • Promote collaboration between finance department at head office and finance representatives locally

To ensure a successful (efficient) year-end audit for the division

  • Preparation of year-end audit files
  • Preparation of year-end tax packs
  • Preparation of year-end information packs
  • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure an efficient year-end audit
  • Assist auditors by responding to possible queries
  • Submit evidence for work done the past year (e.g. Income statements, Balance sheets, etc.)

To accurately and timeously perform selected financial management functions

  • Arranging payments to contractors and/or suppliers by liaising with banks, capturing payment details on SAP and getting authorisation for payments
  • Preparing budget schedules
  • Maintaining and updating expense schedules for vehicles
  • Updating (vehicle) fleet details
  • Maintaining filing system for original vehicle registration papers

Reporting to the Divisional Financial Manager
