Electrical Engineer

Job Description

1.  Design / Verify proposed projects

2.  Offer consulting professional & cost effective services to clients.

3.  Maintain a continuous improvement program, utilizing new designs / methods / materials, etc.

4.  Develop efficient & cost effective energy solutions to customers 

5.  Utilize best suited technologies and remain abreast of new techniques

6.  Guide team on problem solving when necessary. 

7.  Ensure compliance to ISO & Angolan standards applied to the industry

8.  Ensure that best practices are in-place and adhered.

9.  Plan, organise and co-ordinate the department

10. Ensure the use of Failure mode analyzes tools.

11. Implement and maintain a culture of continuous improvement.

12. Guide the team, in obtaining BWP standards.

13. Maintain close contact with technical team (Projects) with the aim of improving quality efficiencies

14. Ensure a cost effective solutions.

15. Keep company abreast of new technologies

16. Ensure profitability of the department / company

ACTIVITIES OF JOB HOLDER - FUNCTIONS PERFORMED PERSONALLY

1.  Manage department within the BW guidelines.

2.  Design power stations.

3.  Lease with clients offering cost effective professional solutions

4.  Ensure a continuous search for new technologies and techniques

5.  Set-up programmes to improve uptime and reduce losses.

6.  Lease with customers on quality/technical issues

7.  Introduce new techniques where applicable.

8.  Leading and co-ordinate new designs/installations.

9.  Involvement in Technical projects as required by the Operation Manager.

10. Analyse areas of concern and formulate action plans to correct.

11. Coordinate team’s development program.

12. Lease with all BP manufacturing / Project facilities with the aim of sharing knowledge.

13. Assist on technical issues when necessary.

14. Coach and guide the team with a view of intellectual growth.

15. Ensure compliance to SHER and POP program’s

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES   (Key end-result areas essential to PURPOSE). 

1.  Ensure efficient designs, standards and cost effective solutions.

2.  Introduce new technologies within the BW family

3.  Manage a continuous improvement programs to reduce losses.

4.  Use analytic techniques to improve efficiencies.

5.  Train and assist the technical personnel where necessary.

6.  To ensure that all new employees and employees affected by the introduction of new or significantly modified systems and/or machines or equivalents are inducted, training and developed in accordance with the company training procedure.

7.  Manage QA standards, introduce engineering Standards Bases on IEE

8.  Grow the business with the introduction of energy solutions, control, SCADA, etc.

Education and Qualifications

1.  BSc. (Electrical )  Professional Engineer.

2.  An in depth knowledge of electrical reticulation low and medium voltage.

3.  Ability to design detailed installations as well complex calculations

4.  Five Year past graduation experience in Industry, ideally in design environment.

5.  Three (3) years supervisory/management experience in engineering/process disciplines.

6.  Ability to guide internal teams, and external teams (subcontracts).

7.  Hands-on on Failure mode analyses tools is essential as well problem solving techniques..

8.  Working knowledge of Simulation Packages will be advantageous.

9.  Working Knowledge of AUTOCAD or any other designing software used in the industry.

10.  Understanding of quality management tools.

11.  An understanding of the OHSACT, ISO 14000 & 9000 requirements.

12.  The ability to impact positively on productivity, through effective team participation.
